Rich and Ripe Reds (Lytham)
On this night we concentrate on Rich and Powerful red wines from around the world including some unusual places....
Our first set of wines will demonstrate the powerful and peppery Syrah or Shiraz. Australia has become synonymous with a Fruit-Led big, powerful wine. The Barossa Valley in South Australia being the most famous prudcer of this style. We'll compare Barossa a similarly powerful South African Shiraz.
Cabernet Sauvignon is responsible for some of the world's greatest and most expensive wines from the great Chateau like Margaux and Lafite-Rothschild but the New World is producing a juicier bolder wine for drinking young. We will taste juicy fruity styles of red from Chile and California.
Malbec hails originally from the South west of France, but recently Argentina has claimed it as its own. We'll taste the difference between a very high altitude Malbec and compare with something from a little further down the mountain.
Lebanon may not spring to mind when you're thinking about your red wine supply so we'll finish the evening with an impressive surprise wine from the Bekaa Valley.
