World of Wine - Spain & Portugal (Preston)
Spain is an intriguing mixture of old and new - winemakers are combining traditional grape varieties like Tempranillo, Garnacha and Carinena with ‘international’ grape varieties, to produce stunning new wines. Regions such as Navarra and Ribera Del Duero, with delightful Rosé wines and succulent juicy red tempranillo wines that rival Rioja for quality. Murcia is now producing excellent wines using the local Monastrell as its mainstay. Monastrell is one of the ingredients for Chateauneuf-du-Pape but as a wine it demonstrates full bodied fruity flavours. You will taste new wines from these and more up and coming regions (such as Rueda & Calatayud), as well as traditional Rioja. We will savour some small tapas with some of the wines to appreciate them at their best.
