WSET® Examination Courses
As an Approved Programme Provider for WSET® The Lancashire Wine School can offer these internationally recognised examination courses at Level 1 and Level 2, with Level 3 to be made available in the near future.
WSET® Level 1 Award is aimed at front-line restaurant staff. This affordable 1 day course covers all of the major grape varieties and wine regions, with practical exercises involving wine tasting and food and wine pairing, good and bad, to ensure your staff relate their knowledge to their own experience.
WSET® Level 2 Award is also an entry level course, in that you don’t need to study Level 1 first but is far more comprehensive, covering a wider range of grapes and wine regions, including practical wine tastings and a section on Spirits. This course can be delivered over 8 x 2 hour sessions, 3 separate days over 3 weeks or an intensive 4 day course.
WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits is a course designed for anyone wishing to gain in-depth knowledge of wines and spirits and build upon the knowledge gained at Intermediate level. You will acquire a thorough understanding of the factors influencing the style, quality and price of wines from key wine producing regions of the world. You will also develop analytical tasting skills using the systematic approach to tasting as tasting will be part of the examinations.
We recognise that formal examination courses are not suitable for every business so we are happy to offer flexible bespoke training. Our bespoke courses can be tailored around your wine list and menu, with practical exercises to demonstrate how your wines work with different foods.
